General technical requirements for castings:

1. Material requirements. Main hardness, tensile strength, elongation and impact toughness.

2. Dimensional accuracy and shape accuracy. For different castings, different tolerances of dimensions, shapes and positions, and different tolerances are adopted.

3. According to the use requirements, the acceptance requirements of other defects in castings shall be specified. Such as pores, sand holes, shrinkage holes, shrinkage porosity, slag inclusion, sand inclusion, cracks and so on.

Slag pot

There are many steel castings foundry factories in the production, there will be the following situations, resulting in problems in the quality of large castings such as slag cans and steel castings, so it needs to pay special attention in production:

1. The selection of mold materials for castings is unreasonable. The choice of white mold shape material is that the carbon content is high and the white mold density is too high. Therefore, the carbon content of slag pot casting model during thermal decomposition is high, the liquid phase and non-fog carbon content of casting during mold filling is high, and the Carburizing probability of steel castings is high.

2. The carbon content of steel castings is not strictly controlled, especially the carbon content in all kinds of scrap and the materials containing other alloy components in all kinds of scrap.

3. There are many joints in the castings. The quality of iron castings is poor and the bonding surface is not smooth, which leads to the increase of glue consumption and the carbon content of thermal decomposition products.

4. The gating and filling design of casting gating system is unreasonable. When producing low carbon steel castings, the carbon content of steel castings is low. If the design of casting pouring and filling mode is unreasonable, the possibility of carbon diffusion in the thermal decomposition products of casting pattern will increase, resulting in Carburizing and carburization.
